Strengthening ESG Recognition

Scandinavian Print Group (SPG) is one of the Nordics’ leading printing groups, with operations spanning multiple companies and markets. Over time, SPG has built a solid foundation of sustainability initiatives, policies, and practices across environmental, social, and governance areas.

Background

As part of their continued ESG ambitions, SPG wanted to strengthen their EcoVadis rating to better reflect the level of work already embedded across the organisation. However, due to their group structure, relevant information and documentation existed across many different reports, entities and systems. This made it challenging to present a complete and coherent picture within the EcoVadis framework.

With a lot of good work already done, SPG’s objective was clear: to dig out the correct sustainability information from the many sources of knowledge to ensure that their EcoVadis score accurately represented reality.

Our Approach

Alba Project Group supported SPG in translating their existing ESG efforts into a structured and high-quality EcoVadis submission.

The collaboration was initiated with an on-site workshop at SPG’s headquarters in Aarhus, aligning on scope, key data sources, and determining responsibilities. From there, Alba worked closely with SPG’s ESG controller to drive the process forward.

Our work focused on:

  • Mapping and consolidating relevant documentation across the group
  • Ensuring alignment between existing practices and EcoVadis requirements
  • Managing the full questionnaire to ensure a coherent and high-quality narrative.
  • Identifying and addressing gaps to improve overall scoring potential
  • Presenting results and outlining clear next steps for further improvement

By combining SPG’s strong ESG foundation with Alba’s structured and methodology-driven approach, we ensured that their efforts were clearly and effectively reflected in the final submission.

The Result

SPG improved their EcoVadis rating from Bronze to Silver following the updated submission.

The result reflects a more complete and structured representation of SPG’s sustainability work, including:

  • Stronger alignment between policies, actions, and documentation
  • Newly added documentation based on Alba’s gap analysis
  • A clearer and more consistently filled out questionnaire

With the improved rating, SPG is now better positioned in customer dialogues and tender processes, while also having a stronger foundation for continued ESG development.

“We had already built a strong foundation within ESG, but we needed a more structured way to present it in EcoVadis. Alba helped us ensure that our work was clearly reflected in EcoVadis and guided us through the process in a very professional and efficient way. Achieving a Silver rating is an important milestone for us.”
